La Roue de Fortune (Wheel of Fortune) Tarot de Marseille Card Description and Symbolism
A large wheel carries animal-like figures in different positions: one may be rising, another descending and a crowned creature may sit above. The mechanism and its supports are plainly visible, bringing instability and change into one compact scene. The interpretation must start with this picture rather than an unrelated tarot scene.
The Turning Wheel
No position on a wheel lasts forever. In a reading, ask which circumstances are within the person’s control and which are simply changing around them.
The Climbing and Falling Creatures
The figures show different relations to the same movement. An apparent advantage can change; an apparent setback can also create space for a new approach.
The Crowned Figure
The creature at the top seems secure but depends on a rotating structure. The image discourages treating current success as a permanent personal entitlement.
La Roue de Fortune (Wheel of Fortune) Tarot de Marseille Upright Meaning
La Roue de Fortune emphasizes shifting conditions, recurring cycles and the importance of adjusting strategy as circumstances change. It is not a guarantee of sudden luck. More often it asks whether an arrangement works across more than one season.
Upright in Love and Relationships
Relationships may be entering a new phase as schedules, circumstances or priorities shift.
Upright in Career and Work
In career matters, anticipate market or organizational changes, and build room to adapt rather than relying on one outcome.
Upright in Money and Finances
The card favors reserves and a realistic understanding of uneven income or changing costs.
Upright in Spirituality
Cycles of reflection and action may be more useful than expecting a permanent feeling of certainty.
La Roue de Fortune (Wheel of Fortune) Tarot de Marseille Reversed Meaning
Reversed, someone may resist an unavoidable transition, keep repeating a failing habit or mistake a temporary setback for the end of all possibilities. The response is to examine which parts of the pattern can actually be changed.
Reversed in Love and Relationships
Repeating a familiar argument without changing the underlying arrangement can keep a couple on the same circle.
Reversed in Career and Work
A rigid plan may perform poorly when conditions shift; look for a practical alternative before investing more effort.
Reversed in Money and Finances
Overconfidence after a good period or panic after a bad one can damage long-term decisions.
Reversed in Spirituality
Treating every fluctuation as cosmic punishment obscures the practical causes of change.
La Roue de Fortune (Wheel of Fortune) Tarot Interpretations in Readings
La Roue de Fortune Yes or No
Maybe; conditions are changing. The answer still depends on what practical condition the question asks about; tarot cannot certify a future event.
La Roue de Fortune as Feelings
Someone may feel excited but unsettled by changing circumstances rather than certain about the next stage.
La Roue de Fortune as a Person
A flexible strategist, traveler or someone working within volatile conditions may be relevant.
La Roue de Fortune as Advice
Plan for the wheel to move again. Protect essentials, diversify fragile assumptions and stay ready to revise the route.
La Roue de Fortune as an Outcome
A change of circumstances is central, but the result depends on adaptation as well as chance.
La Roue de Fortune in Past, Present and Future Positions
Past
A previous turning point shaped the present opportunity or vulnerability.
Present
Conditions are moving; notice which part of the process you can influence.
Future
A new phase may open, inviting flexibility rather than blind reliance on good luck.
La Roue de Fortune Tarot de Marseille Reading Example
Question: How should a small publisher plan around seasonal sales peaks?
My interpretation: I would not read the crowned figure as evidence that good sales will continue automatically. The rising and falling creatures suggest planning for different months: protect a reserve, spread launches and avoid building fixed costs around an unusually strong week. The wheel describes variability, not a promise of fortune.
