Natal planetary aspects are angular relationships between planetary positions recorded at the instant of birth. They represent a stable part of the natal chart rather than a passing transit. A natal Moon square Saturn, for example, is interpreted differently from a temporary transit of Saturn squaring the natal Moon.

Read the planets before the angle

An aspect links two specific functions. Sun–Moon connections concern how identity and habitual emotional responses relate; Mercury–Mars connections bring thought and action into conversation; Venus–Saturn contacts raise themes of relationship standards, loyalty and restraint. The angle qualifies the relationship, but the planets define its subject. Signs and houses identify style and life context.

Strength and chart emphasis

Exact aspects involving the Sun, Moon, Ascendant ruler or angles are often prominent. Repeated contacts can create a pattern of reinforcing themes, while several challenging and supportive aspects may coexist. Consider applying and separating aspects where your chosen tradition uses them, and treat orb, dignity and house placement consistently.

Interpreting combinations fairly

Avoid reducing someone to one aspect. A square can be experienced as a problem, discipline or developed skill; a trine can describe an available capacity that remains unused. Read the entire natal pattern, not a verdict based on one geometric figure.
